Happy Valentine’s Day

Heart Of The World .

Love.

Valentines Day

What is the most important thing in life? Ask anyone and you'll probably get the same answer.

Love.  All of existence in the Universe is interconnected; humans, animals, plants and minerals and we all require love.

HEART OF THE WORLD RADIATING LOVE

Who knows more about true, unconditional love than dogs?...  we personally cannot think of anyone; and those of you who have spent any time in the company of dogs will most likely agree with us.

Puppy Love Rainbow Illustration of Two Puppies in Puppy Love

All animals know how to feel and express love.  This is very apparent, as all you have to do is look around you at any given moment and witness the love they share with us, with their own animal families, and even with other species of animals.

We believe that animals live from their true and most authentic selves and can help inspire us to do the same.  They are the 'Essence of Pure Love' living truly from the heart and living only in the 'Now'.* To better understand what we are referring to when we say " in the Now", check out this book The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by author Eckhart Tolle in Paperback https://a.co/d/dqmKd5c or Kindle format https://a.co/d/6ZeckkF
Dogs are always there for you no matter what.  They are what our lead creator here refers to as true, 'all-weather' friends, and dogs would never even dream of abandoning you if you don't look perfect, are having a bad day, come home late, smell weird, and so on. They accept and love us unconditionally; whether we are young, old, in-between, male or female; regardless of age, race, creed, color, social status, political affiliation or religion.  They don't care what language we speak; because dogs have the ability and intelligence to understand them all. Think about that one for a moment. Just travel around a bit and you will see that this is true.  They live from the language of the heart.  Dogs teach us to 'let go' and see the mystery beyond the form and show us instead the love, intelligence, and spirit 'behind' the physical form.  Animals 'see' 'all' of this every day and they want us to tap into it too.

Loyal and True Mates for Life

Like their great and wise ancestors; the wolf, dogs are very social creatures who prefer the company of humans, and thank your lucky stars for the wolf, yes, that’s right, because without wolves none of us would have our modern-day companions the dog to share our life and our love with.  Like the wolf, dogs also know and live the true meaning of the word 'devotion' and are here on Earth to teach us this and many other life lessons every single day that we are blessed to be in their presence.

Valentine's Day is a day when the feelings of love, affection, appreciation, and friendship are shown and celebrated, and who better to celebrate with than your canine pal?...

A MONARCH’S FLIGHT THROUGH TODAYS’ TURBULENT WORLD: CHALLENGES AND TRIUMPHS

MONARCH BUTTERFLY ON RED FLOWER

MONARCH BUTTERFLY SITTING ON RED FLOWER

Although this website is all about a Compassionate Community of Dog Lovers, many of our journal articles include aspects of spirituality and how animals teach us lessons about this.  We were out for a neighborhood walk the other day and lit upon this gorgeous home with lush gardens surrounding it and happened upon this beautiful little creature: the Monarch Butterfly, and wanted to share a bit about what we learned about their lives.

Imagine being a Monarch butterfly fluttering through the vast canvas of the world in 2023. As you soar through landscapes adorned with vibrant hues, your graceful wings tell a story of resilience, adaptation, and the challenges faced by one of nature's most magnificent creatures.

Did you know that the journey of a Monarch butterfly begins as an egg laid on the underside of a milkweed leaf. From this tiny embryo emerges a caterpillar, voracious in appetite and steadfast in its determination to consume milkweed—a plant integral to its survival. Yet, in today's world, the landscape is changing. Urbanization, deforestation, and climate fluctuations have altered the ecosystems all over the globe, threatening the sanctuaries where milkweed thrives. As a Monarch, this poses a formidable challenge—a struggle to find suitable habitats for nourishment and reproduction.

Migration—a hallmark of Monarch butterflies—is an odyssey fraught with both peril and wonder. The annual migration from North America to Mexico covers thousands of miles, a feat of endurance for these delicate creatures. I mean, can you even imagine what this journey would feel like in the body of this tiny creature?  This journey is perilous, with numerous obstacles along the way. Pesticides, habitat loss, extreme weather events, and human activities disrupt their migratory paths, making survival an arduous endeavor.

Climate change amplifies these challenges, disrupting the delicate balance of nature. Unpredictable weather patterns alter the timing of critical life cycle events, affecting the synchronization between the emergence of butterflies and the availability of nectar-rich flowers. As a Monarch, adapting to these changes demands resilience and flexibility, traits necessary for survival in a world constantly in flux.

Human intervention has offered a glimmer of hope amidst these adversities. Conservation efforts aimed at preserving Monarch habitats, planting milkweed corridors, and raising awareness about their plight have shown promising results. Collaborative initiatives involving governments, scientists, and communities seek to mitigate the threats faced by these majestic creatures. Citizen science projects engage individuals in tracking and monitoring Monarch populations, fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship towards the environment.

Despite the challenges, being a Monarch butterfly in today's world is not merely a tale of struggle but also one of resilience and hope. The iridescent beauty of these creatures captivates our hearts, reminding us of the fragility and interconnectedness of all life forms. Their journey inspires us to take positive action, to protect and preserve the biodiversity that sustains us all.

The life of a Monarch butterfly in 2023 is a testament to the intricate dance between adaptation and perseverance in a world grappling with environmental changes. Their story urges us to embrace our role as custodians of nature, fostering an environment where these magnificent creatures can thrive alongside us. Through collective efforts and a shared commitment to conservation, we can ensure that the ethereal flight of the Monarch endures for generations to come.

Find out what you can do in your own backyard and local community to help the Magnificent Monarch Butterflies to Thrive, not just to survive. The first most obvious thing you can do is go to your local garden center and purchase milkweed plants and ask the garden center/nursery staff how to best care for them.

DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU LIVE WITH?~ EXPLORING WOLVES: ANCESTRAL GUARDIANS AND ESSENTIAL PARTNERS IN HUMAN HISTORY AND THE EVOLUTION OF DOGS

ARCTIC WHITE WOLVES PAIR

Wolves, the majestic and enigmatic creatures that have roamed the Earth for centuries, are more than just a symbol of wilderness; they are an integral part of our history, especially in the context of our relationship with dogs. As the ancestors of our beloved companions, wolves have played a crucial role in shaping not only the evolution of dogs, but also in forming a deep bond with humanity. This article delves into the profound significance of wolves in the evolution of dogs and their enduring influence on human societies.

Ancient Ancestry: The connection between wolves and dogs transcends time and can be traced back thousands of years. Recent Genetic research has established that dogs share a common ancestor with the gray wolf, Canis lupus. This ancestral link dates back to around 15,000-40,000 years ago, perhaps even further, marking the domestication of wolves into the loyal, varied breeds of dogs we all cherish today. This transformation from wild wolves to domesticated dogs was a pivotal moment in human history, signifying the beginning of a partnership that has endured through the ages and was not just a shift in physical appearance, but a profound alteration in behavior, temperament, and social structure, marking the beginning of a partnership that has significantly and positively influenced human civilization.

Vital Role in Evolution and Domestication: Wolves' cooperation with early humans was vital for survival of both species.  Wolves were skilled hunters, demonstrating teamwork and family social structures that inspired humans to form alliances with them. This collaboration led to mutual benefits: Wolves gained a consistent food source from human hunting, while humans benefitted from the wolves' keen senses and protective instincts. Over generations, this symbiotic relationship gradually shaped the genetic traits that distinguished dogs from their wild ancestors. This mutual relationship led to the emergence of certain behavioural and genetic adaptations in wolves, gradually differentiating them from their wild counterparts and paving the way for the unique attributes found in our modern day dogs.  Over time, this co-evolution has been fundamental in the development of many diverse breeds of dogs we know today, each with its own specific traits and abilities. From Herding Dogs to Hunting Dogs and all dogs in between, they owe their common and unique traits to their ancient ancestors: the wonderful wild wolf.

Throughout history, wolves served as both companions and working animals. They assisted in hunting, guarded settlements, and provided protection. Different cultures revered and incorporated wolves into their folklore and spirituality, recognizing their intelligence, strength, and loyalty.; the way each member of the family pack behaves and contributes in their own unique way for the good of the pack as a whole.               In essence, wolves were not merely animals; they became esteemed members of early human societies. Let’s not forget, we humans are animals too.

Modern Perspectives: Despite their critical role in history, wolves have faced numerous and ongoing challenges, including habitat loss at an unprecedented rate, unjustified persecution, and an incredible amount of sheer misunderstanding. Human encroachment into their original territories has threatened their very existence, leading to conservation efforts aimed at preserving these vital apex predators.  These beautiful and vital creatures are being murdered simply due to their species and lack of enforced protection, and that has to stop.

Moreover, understanding the evolutionary link between wolves and dogs provides invaluable insights into canine behavior, health, and genetics. Scientific research continues to explore the genetic similarities and differences between wolves and dogs, unraveling long standing mysteries and enhancing our human understanding of our own four-legged companions.

The ongoing efforts to conserve wolf populations, reintroduce them to natural habitats, and promote coexistence highlight the significance of maintaining a harmonious relationship with these magnificent creatures. Their conservation not only ensures the preservation of a keystone species but also contributes to maintaining naturally balanced ecosystems.

Wolves Are Incredibly Loyal And Are Devoted To Their Mate And Family Pack For Life

The story of wolves is intertwined with the evolution of dogs and the history of humanity itself.  Their role as ancestors to our beloved canine companions is an integral part of our shared history. Wolves have left an indelible mark on human civilization, from the ancient bond that catalyzed domestication of dogs, to the enduring lessons they offer us about our interconnectedness with the natural world.

Recognizing the importance of wolves is not merely about acknowledging their past significance but also about embracing their continued relevance in modern times. By understanding and respecting these magnificent creatures, we honor our shared history and ensure a more compassionate and harmonious coexistence with the natural world, for indeed, we are all expressions of Mother Nature herself.

Wolves are not just animals; they are guardians of our past and vital contributors to the beauty and diversity of our planet, deserving of our utmost admiration and protection.

FRIDAY THE 13TH: A DAY OF CANINE BLESSINGS BY THE BEAUTIFUL BENEVOLENT GODDESS HECATE

HECATE GODDESS DEPICTED WITH HER DOGS AND HER TORCH LIGHT

Even today in what is referred to as a ’modern’ world,  Friday the 13th is, believe it or not, still often associated with superstitions, limited beliefs, and fear.  Interestingly enough there's a delightful twist that's been highly overlooked. Beneath the veil of superstition lies a day that's brimming with positivity and canine blessings, all thanks to the benevolent Goddess Hecate. In this article, we will unveil the hidden beauty and healing influence of Hecate, whom we’ve often felt has gotten bad rap in the past, and we’ll do some emphasizing on why Friday the 13th is a day that our dog-centric community; The Dog Goddess can celebrate with enthusiasm, pride, and joy.

The Radiance of Hecate: A Healer and Protectress

Hecate, an ancient Greek Goddess, is a figure of profound significance and an unmistakable air of mystery.  While some may have erroneously or purposefully labeled her negatively as a witch, through many years of deep research which we have done, what we’ve unearthed on the truth about Hecate is far more beautiful, interesting, and benevolent.

Healer and Protectress: Hecate was a healer and protectress, extending her benevolent influence over individuals, homes, and the mysteries of life. She was revered for safeguarding women and children, particularly during childbirth, single mothers, and for offering them her solace and protection during the night.

Guardian of Crossroads: Hecate was also the guardian of crossroads, Goddess of the New Moon, and a benevolent symbol of choices and transitions in life. As a TorchBearer/ Light Bringer, she guided travelers along their paths, providing a sense of direction, protection, and security; as though she was right there watching and guarding over them.  If you would like the Protection and Blessings of Hecate for you and your beloved ones, bring her an offering of beautiful things like flowers, herbs, and foods each New Moon at a crossroads in your own geographical area, or wherever you happen to be at the time.

The Loyal Companions: Dogs and Wolves

In the company of Hecate, dogs and wolves were her constant companions. This connection brings additional layers of positive symbolism and beauty to Friday the 13th.

Dogs as Guardians: Dogs, especially black dogs, were sacred to Hecate. They symbolized her protective and nurturing nature, standing as vigilant guardians in her presence.

Wolves as Symbols of Vigilance: As the ancient ancestors of all dogs, revered for their loyalty, Wolves played a crucial role in the symbolism associated with Hecate. They embodied her watchfulness and readiness to guide individuals through life's mysteries.  Often you might see Hecate depicted with 3 of her dogs guarding her from each side and behind her.  Historians say that most likely due to the time period in which she was said to have lived, these dogs were most likely wolves, and that through modern evolution of storytelling they eventually were depicted as dogs because that is what the people of the time could best relate to.

Friday the 13th: A Day of Canine Blessings

Despite the superstitions surrounding Friday the 13th, our dog-centric community has every reason to view this day in a profoundly positive light and we would like you to consider giving this a try as well.

Protection and Healing: By celebrating Friday the 13th rather than denigrating it, we can tap into the protective, uplifting, and healing energies of Hecate. It's a day to acknowledge the guardian aspects of this Goddess and seek her blessings for the well-being of our beloved canine companions.

Positive Direction: Hecate's association with crossroads can be a source of inspiration for our community. It encourages us to make conscious choices and consider the paths we take in our own interactions with dogs, and not just our own dogs, but that of ALL dogs all over the World, promoting their welfare and happiness.

Loyal Companions: Dogs, known for their loyalty, unending devotion, UNconditional pure love, and companionship, serve as a reminder of the sacred bond between humans and canines. On this day, we can celebrate the love, loyalty, devotion, and protection our dogs offer us.

Embrace the Blessings of Hecate on Friday the 13th

In a world that often associates Friday the 13th with superstitions, our dog-centric community has the unique opportunity to celebrate the benevolent Goddess Hecate and her healing influence. Her connection to dogs and wolves, symbols of protection and vigilance, adds layers of positivity to this day.

Let's embrace Friday the 13th as a day of canine blessings, where we seek Hecate's protection and healing for our beloved four-legged friends. It's a day to honor the sacred bond between humans and dogs and to navigate our choices with care and love, guided by the watchful presence of the beautiful, benevolent Goddess.

Sharing positivity and uplifting messages can brighten people's spirits and create a sense of connection and joy.  Have a wonderful and uplifting day!

DO DOGS DREAM?

DO DOGS DREAM?

PUPPY DREAMING

Dogs, like many other mammals, do indeed dream. In fact, research suggests that they may even dream more than humans do!

Just like humans, dogs experience different stages of sleep, including REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which is when most dreaming occurs. During this stage, the brain is highly active, and the body is essentially paralyzed to prevent the dog from acting out its dreams; the same as how humans dream.

Researchers have observed dogs during REM sleep and have found that they exhibit similar behaviors to when they're awake, such as twitching, paw movements, and even vocalizations. This suggests that they are indeed dreaming and experiencing some sort of sensory input during their dreams.

So, what do dogs dream about? It's hard to say for sure, because we can’t ask them directly and allow them to answer us in our human language, but it's likely that they dream about things that are important to them, such as playing with their favorite toy, going for a walk, or interacting with their favourite humans. Some researchers even suggest that dogs may dream about past experiences, similar to how humans sometimes have vivid dreams about events from their own lives.

Overall, the fact that dogs dream is just another fascinating aspect of their complex cognitive abilities. It's yet another reason to appreciate and cherish these wonderful and truly amazing animals!

During the REM stage they're most likely to dream. During this phase, the brain becomes highly active, and electrical signals in the brain resemble those of an awake, alert animal. However, the body is essentially paralyzed, except for small twitches in the eyes, ears, and limbs.

Scientists have used electroencephalography (EEG) to monitor brain activity in dogs while they're sleeping, and they've found that the patterns of brain activity are similar to those seen in humans during REM sleep. This suggests that dogs are experiencing similar types of dreams as humans do during this stage of sleep.

Interestingly, some researchers have suggested that just like their human counterparts, dogs may also dream about past experiences. Dogs have excellent memories, and they may replay past events in their dreams, just like humans sometimes do. For example, a dog that had a particularly enjoyable day at the beach might dream about running through the sand and playing in the waves and be kicking her feet and smiling during REM as she sleeps.

Overall, while we can't know for sure what dogs dream about, it's clear that they do experience complex dream states during REM sleep. And as with so many aspects of dog behavior and cognition, the more we learn about their dreams, the more we realize just how amazing these animals truly are. Love and respect your and other people’s dogs too, for yes, they are truly incredible and amazing beings.

ARE DOGS LEFT PAWED OR RIGHT PAWED SIMILAR TO HOW HUMANS ARE LEFT HANDED OR RIGHT HANDED?

ARE DOGS LEFT PAWED OR RIGHT PAWED SIMILAR TO HOW HUMANS ARE LEFT HANDED OR RIGHT HANDED?

Yes, dogs, like humans, can exhibit a preference for using one paw over the other. This is known as ‘pawedness’, and just like ‘handedness’ in humans, it can be left-pawed or right-pawed. In fact, studies have shown that around half of all dogs have a preference for using either their left or right paw. Do you ever even notice this about your own dog or other dogs that you interact with?…

Researchers have studied pawedness in dogs by observing which paw the dog uses to perform certain tasks, such as reaching for an object or scratching at a door. Some studies have also looked at whether pawedness is related to a dog's breed, sex, or age, but the results so far have been inconclusive.

It's worth noting that pawedness in dogs is not as strongly handed as it is in humans. While some dogs clearly prefer one paw over the other, many dogs are ambilateral, meaning they use both paws equally. Additionally, pawedness may vary depending on the task or situation, and some dogs may even switch their preferred paw over time.

It's highly possible that dogs offer their paw in response to seeing humans offer their hand, but it's not clear if this is the only reason why they do it. Dogs offering their paw can have different meanings depending on the context and the dog's individual personality.

For example, some dogs may offer their paw as a way of greeting or showing affection to their human, while others may do it as a learned behavior that has been reinforced through training as in commands such as: ‘say hi!’ or ‘shake hands’. Dogs may also offer their paw as a way to signal that they want something, such as attention or a treat.

In some cases, dogs may even offer their paw as a way of signaling anxiety or stress, particularly if they are in an unfamiliar or uncomfortable situation.

So while it's possible that dogs offer their paw in response to seeing humans offer their hand, there are likely many other factors at play. It's up to you and very important to ‘pay attention’ to your dog's body language and context to understand what they are trying to communicate.

BATHING YOUR DOG CAN BE A RELAXING BONDING EXPERIENCE

BATHING YOUR DOG CAN BE A RELAXING BONDING EXPERIENCE

BLUE MERLE AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD RECEIVING RELAXING BATH AT SELF DOG WASH

Blue Merle Australian Shepherd Dog Receiving Bath At Self Dog Wash

We bet you didn’t realize it, but bathing your beloved pup can be so much more than just a mundane chore. From our perspective, it can be an opportunity to create lasting memories and deepen the bond between you and your canine companion. The joy and excitement that come from this shared experience not only ensure your dog's cleanliness and well-being, but also provide a delightful and fulfilling experience for both of you. In this journal article; BATHING YOUR DOG CAN BE A RELAXING BONDING EXPERIENCE, we will explore the various ways that bathing your dog can be a fun and uplifting adventure, strengthening the bond and fostering a deeper connection between you and your loyal canine companion.

1.) Pre-Bath Preparation: Preparing for bath time can be an enjoyable ritual that builds anticipation and excitement for both you and your dog. If you will be bathing your dog at home, you will first Gather all the necessary bathing supplies, such as dog-friendly shampoo, towels, brushes, and treats, in advance. This preparation allows you to focus solely on the enjoyable moments that lie ahead.  * Remember, Dogs Live ‘In the Moment’ so this is especially important to them.  If you will be bathing your dog at a ‘Puppy Wash’ place, you will most likely be supplied with all of the essentials, like at this place shown here in the photo, however, you may wish to bring your own doggy shampoo if your pup is ‘sensitive’ and give you peace of mind knowing that they will not have an adverse reaction to a shampoo their skin isn’t used to.

2.) Setting the Stage: Create a soothing and inviting environment in your bathroom or a designated bathing area. Ensure that the water temperature is warm and comfortable for your dog. Not too col, not too hot. *Remember that a dog’s normal body temperature is between 99.5-102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Dim the lights and play some instrumental calming music to set a tranquil atmosphere. Just like it can for us humans, utilizing these sensory enhancements can transform the bath into a ‘spa-like experience for your dog’, making them feel relaxed and cherished.  We like to bring along a small bottle of Organic Essential Oil like Lavender to put a dot on our pup’s harness after her bath.

3.) Gentle Brushing: Before the bath, spend a few moments brushing your dog's coat. This not only removes loose hair and tangles but also serves as an opportunity to bond. Dogs often enjoy the sensation of being groomed, and the rhythmic strokes of the brush can create a sense of calmness and trust. As you gently brush, engage in soft conversations or comforting words, reinforcing the bond between you.  * Make sure the pup’s brush is clean, both before and after you bathe them.

4.) Water Adventure: The moment arrives to introduce your dog to the water! Slowly and steadily, guide them into the bath or shower area, ensuring they feel safe and supported. Start by using a handheld showerhead on a ‘soft shower/rain’ setting, not blasting pressure.  *If you’re not at the Puppy Wash and doing this at home you can use a plastic pitcher to gently wet their coat, making sure to avoid their face and ears. Observe their reactions and use calm, soothing words or treats to alleviate any anxiety. * We like to give one of our more high energy pups a little natural ‘calming treat’ about 20 minutes prior to her bath.  Some items we recommend are ‘ThunderWunders Hemp Seed Calming Chews’ or ‘Dr. Bach’s Rescue Remedy for Pets’. Watching their sweet little faces, curious expressions and wagging tails as they explore this new sensation can be both amusing and heartwarming.

5.) Suds and Scrubs: Once your dog is comfortably wet, and this may take quite a bit if you have a double-coated breed such as a Collie, Husky, etc.  You’re going to want to make sure have their fur and their skin wet. Now it’s time to apply the dog-friendly shampoo.         *Over the years we have found that if you Start by wetting your pup’s paws first and shampooing and rinsing them, it’s not only a good way to make sure that the water temperature and pressure are correct, having clean paws and a little paw massage really helps them to relax quicker.   After you wash/rinse their paws we suggest you start just behind their ears and work back towards their tail, down their sides, under their chest and belly areas.  Basically, move ‘Head to Tail’ and careful not to get any shampoo in their eyes or any water in their ears.

During this entire bathing process you are going to want to use gentle, circular motions to massage the shampoo into their coat. This not only cleanses their fur but also provides a soothing and relaxing massage-like experience. When you make it fun as well as relaxing as you work through the lather, exchange playful interactions, praising and rewarding your dog with treats during or afterward for their cooperation. The shared laughter and positive reinforcement will enhance the bond between you. Dogs are here on Earth to see that we learn some important love lessons and learn how to just ‘be’ and have fun!

6.) Bonding Through Rinse: The rinsing process, while practical, can be transformed into a delightful water game. Use a handheld showerhead or a large cup to gently rinse away the suds, ensuring you don't leave any residue behind. Enjoy this playful moment as your dog dances and splashes in the water, providing laughter and smiles for both of you. Engaging in light-hearted play during the rinse creates a memorable experience that deepens your connection.

7.) Wrapping in Warmth: After the bath, wrap your dog in a soft, warm towel, and gently dry them. * Unless you have a very small pup you will most likely need to have 2-4 towels ready and or we like to use a product made from microfiber called the “Soggy Doggie”  to get most of the heavy wetness off of your dog first, and then follow with towels and or a quiet, ionic shine hair dryer if they’ll allow a hair dryer, or you don’t have a warm day to allow them to air dry in the sunshine.  We realize that many groomers and ‘Puppy Wash’ places do have those dryers that resemble a long black vacuum cleaner type hose, but many if not most dogs do NOT like how LOUD they are, and some animal behaviorists feel that the hose resembles a snake too much, so they don’t advocate using them based on ‘common sense’ that a dog/canine would NOT respond well to this. Be sure to pay extra attention to their paws, ears, and other sensitive areas. As you dry your dog, engage in tender words and affectionate gestures, showing them that they are loved and cherished. This post-bath ritual provides a cozy and comforting experience, reinforcing the trust and bond you share.

As you can see, Bathing your dog is more than just an essential grooming task; it is an extraordinary opportunity for shared joy, laughter, and strengthening the bond between you in a brand new activity that will need to be repeated lifelong.

Dogs are not on this planet very long in comparison to human beings, so any experience that you can share with them and make it a positive fun one makes all the difference in their world.

IF YOU COULD ASK YOUR DOG ANYTHING AND HAVE THEM TELL YOU, WHAT WOULD YOUR QUESTIONS BE AND WHY?

IF YOU COULD ASK YOUR DOG ANYTHING AND HAVE THEM TELL YOU THE ANSWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

The curiosity and wonder of wanting to know what our furry companions are thinking is innate to many of us ‘dog people.’ Since the number Thirteen (13) is the number associated with the Goddess, we thought we would start by sharing Thirteen questions we might ask our dogs if we could ask them anything and have them tell us.

Our questions would likely be:

1.) How are you feeling? One of the most challenging things about owning a pet is not being able to communicate with them in a way that we can fully understand. If we could ask our dogs how they were feeling, we could potentially identify any health or emotional issues they may be experiencing. It's crucial to prioritize our pets' well-being, and having a better understanding of their emotional state could help us do just that.

2.) Do you enjoy the food you are eating? As a pet owner, you want to ensure that your dog is getting the right nutrition for their age, size, and activity level. However, what may seem like the perfect meal for us may not be what our pets want or need. If our dogs could tell us what they like and dislike, we could adjust their diets accordingly and ensure that they're happy and healthy.

3.) Do you understand when I talk to you? It's a common misconception that dogs understand every word we say. However, recent studies have shown that dogs can pick up on our tone of voice and body language. Still, they may not fully comprehend the meaning behind our words. If we could communicate with our dogs more effectively, we could build a stronger bond with them and share a more rewarding relationship.

4.) What do you dream about? Anyone who has spent quality time around dogs knows that they often dream. They may twitch, wag their tails, or make noises in their sleep, leading us to wonder what they're dreaming about. If our furry friends could tell us what they were dreaming about, we could gain more insight into their personalities and what makes them happy.

5.) Is there anything you would like me to do differently? Dogs can't speak, but they do communicate with us in various ways. They may bark, whine, or even nudge us with their noses to get our attention. If we could ask them if there was anything they would like us to do differently, we could create a more comfortable and enjoyable living environment for them. We could potentially identify things that are causing them stress or anxiety and make changes to alleviate those feelings when humanly possible.

6.) What is your favorite thing to do with me? As pet owners, we love to spend time with our dogs, but it's often hard to know what they enjoy most. If we could ask them what their favorite activity is, we could make sure to incorporate it into our daily routine and ensure that they're happy and fulfilled.

7.) What scares you the most? Many dogs have fears or phobias that can cause them anxiety and distress. If our dogs could tell us what scares them the most, we could work with them to overcome those fears or avoid situations that cause them stress.

8.) Do you like being around other dogs? Some dogs love being around other dogs, while others prefer to be alone or in the company of their human or humans. If our dogs could tell us how they feel about other dogs, we could make better decisions about when to socialize them, and when not to force them into social situations just because we’ve heard that ‘socializing dogs is good for them’ and we could also ensure that they're comfortable and safe. Some dogs are friendly with other dogs, some are friendly with new humans they meet, some are friendly with both other dogs and humans, and some not so friendly or accepting or trusting of either.

9.) What is your favorite toy? Most dogs have a favorite toy that they love to play with or carry around. If we could ask them what their favorite toy is, we could ensure that they always have access to it and potentially use it as a positive reinforcement reward for good behavior.

10.) What do you think about when you're alone? Many Dogs spend a lot of time by themselves, and it's intriguing to imagine what goes through their minds during those moments. If we could ask them what they think about when they're alone, we could gain more insight into their personalities and what makes each of them so unique.

11.) What do you think of me? As pet owners, we love our dogs unconditionally, but it's hard to know for sure how they feel about us. If we could ask them what they think of us, we could gain a better understanding of our relationship with them and potentially identify ways to strengthen that bond.

12.) Do you like to ride in the car? Taking our dogs with us on car rides is a common activity, but not all dogs enjoy it. If we could ask them if they like to ride in the car, we could make better decisions about when to take them with us and how to make the experience more comfortable for them.

13.) Where are some of your favorite places to go with me? Dogs love exploring new places, and it's always exciting to take them on new adventures. If we could ask them where their favorite places are, we could ensure that we're providing them with the most enjoyable experiences and potentially even discover new places that we may not have thought of before.

Having the ability to communicate with our dogs on a deeper level could lead to a more fulfilling relationship between us and our furry friends. It's exciting to imagine the possibilities of what we could learn from them if we could only ask and listen to what they are actually saying to us.

We will continue this Series in 13’s as we receive more contributions and as we ourselves write more on this intriguing subject; If You Could Ask Your Dog Anything And Have Them Answer, What Would it Be and Why?

DO DOGS HAVE A SORT OF ‘SIXTH’ SENSE?

DO DOGS HAVE A SORT OF ‘SIXTH’ SENSE?

While there is no scientific evidence to suggest that dogs possess a psychic sixth sense, we believe that dogs do have remarkable sensory abilities and can detect things that humans may not be able to. They can detect certain scents or sounds and these abilities can be explained by their ‘highly acute senses’ although some ‘dog people’ might dispute that they indeed possess a sort of supernatural or psychic ability. * remember that anything defined as ‘not natural’ could be interpreted as being or having ‘SUPERnatural’ qualities or abilities.

It is possible that dogs are able to sense things that humans cannot due to their exceptional sense of smell and hearing, as well as their ability to pick up on subtle energy changes in body language and behavior. For example, dogs are often able to detect changes in their owner's mood or emotional state, which may be due to their ability to read facial expressions and body language. Everything is ‘energy’ and dogs are highly capable of being able to sense or ‘pick up on’ even the most ‘subtle’ changes in energy; especially in energies connected with/to themselves and their people and their immediate environment.

Take their sense of smell, for example. Dogs have up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, while humans only have around 6 million. This means that dogs can detect scents that are far beyond our range of detection, making them excellent at detecting things like drugs, explosives, and even certain medical conditions.

In addition to their sense of smell, dogs also have an incredible sense of hearing. They can detect sounds at much higher frequencies than we can, and can even pick up on sounds that are too faint for us to hear. This is why dogs are often used in search and rescue operations, as they can hear people calling for help from miles away. In fact, did you know that dogs hear 100 to 1000 times as loud as we humans do and as mentioned at MUCH higher ‘frequencies’ than we can? * this is often why they are crying or whining from things we take for granted like the sound of the blender, vacuum cleaner, hair dryer. It makes sense why they run away from super loud, sudden sounds like fireworks, a car backfiring, a nail gun or jackhammer on a construction site, or obviously from the sound of gunfire. Sometimes its not that they are ‘afraid’ of these sounds, but that they are ear-piercingly loud; therefore it is a ‘natural’ instinct of dogs to cry out and to try to ‘get way’ from that sound as quickly as possible. These ‘loud’ sudden noises are often the cause of why many dogs run away. In fact, the Fourth of July weekend is the time in the USA when the greatest number of both dogs and cats run away. They are trying to escape the sounds of all of those sudden, unfamiliar and ear-piercingly loud noises and they do not understand why their humans are partaking in such obviously offensive activities or why they are often being left alone.

To recap, dogs are incredibly perceptive when it comes to reading human behavior and body language. They can pick up on subtle cues like changes in tone of voice or body posture, and can often sense when their owners are feeling sad, anxious, or stressed.

So, while our dogs may seem to have a sixth sense at times, it's really their divinely amazing natural abilities that make them so special. So go ahead and give your pup a hug, a pet on the head, and a treat for being such a talented little sensory powerhouse!

Main Chakras in Dogs

Illustrated Color Chart of Seven Main Chakras In Dogs

Illustrated Chart In Color Seven Main Chakras In Dogs

All Creatures Have Chakras

Humans, as well as our beloved animal friends all have these energy centers all over our bodies, and it is important that we learn how to keep them in balance as much as possible.

It is well known that we all have 7 active Primary Chakra centers, 21 Minor Chakras, and 6 Bud Chakras (4 paw pads in Dogs are akin to the 4 fingertips in humans, and the bud of skin at the opening of the ears is like on our own human ears. )

For purposes of basic illustration on this website, we have chosen the chart displaying the 7 Main Chakras in Dogs.

Ok, you may notice there are 11 color dots on the diagram, but as you can see by the chart; on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chakras- they apply on the anterior and posterior of the dog’s body, and we will explain this in a moment.

Just a little introduction to the chakras here for beginners and a recap for those of you who are already familiar with this subject.

Each chakra is associated with specific parts of the body, mind, spirit, and a color, and it is said that chakras are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our auras.

ROOT CHAKRA/TAIL CHAKRA IS RED AND IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE EARTH ELEMENT:

IT IS LOCATED AT THE BASE OF THE SPINE/TAIL. In relation to the body, it deals with kidneys, bladder, vertebrae, bone marrow, hips, legs, back paws, colon, anus and tail.

In relation to the mind and the spirit it deals with grounding, excellent health, survival instincts, overall vitality, and well-being, and when out of balance your dog may exhibit anger, constipation, frustration, and survival fears.

To help keep your dog in proper balance it is a good idea to spend some time every day just sitting to get ‘grounded’ with your pup. Our girls also love to dance. All we have to do is say the word “Dance” and a huge smile emerges onto their little faces and up they go to dance!

SACRAL/SPLEEN CHAKRA IS ORANGE AND IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ELEMENT OF WATER: IT IS LOCATED ON THEIR TUMMY JUST ABOVE THE SEX ORGANS. In relation to the body, it deals with genitals, pelvis, reproductive organs, stomach, small and large intestines, and the sacrum vertebrae.

In relation to the mind and spirit it deals with pleasure, desire, sexual energy, and creativity, and when out of balance your pup may experience lower back pain, uterine, prostate, or bladder problems, reproductive/sexual problems, possessiveness over toys, food, their humans, or other animal friends.

You might want to go on a calm walk around bodies of water, invent interesting new games to help stimulate their creativity levels; especially in the more intelligent and active breeds and a nice relaxing lower back massage is as great for dogs as it is for humans.

SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA IS YELLOW:AND IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ELEMENT OF FIRE: ON DOGS, AS WELL AS ON MOST ANIMALS IT IS LOCATED ON THE UPPER CHEST JUST A FEW INCHES BACK FROM THEIR FRONT LEGS.

In the body it deals with the lumbar vertebra, the nervous system, kidneys, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, and diaphragm, will power: not just for life in general, but in breeds like herding and working dogs this really shines through their determination to get a job done and please their humans. Dogs may exhibit what we refer to as that ‘happy pup face’, smiling and barking with pure joy when this Third Chakra is in balance.

When imbalanced, your pup may exhibit signs such as poor digestion and other food-related issues, lack of will, fear-based aggression, and other anger issues.

Since yellow is the color of the Sun: the source of all life on this planet, you may wish to spend time out in the sun with your pup just taking in its radiance and allowing it to restore your life force. Dogs also like to have their ‘puppy tummy’ gently rubbed, and herbs that help restore balance to the Solar Plexus are Organic Rosemary and Turmeric.

HEART CHAKRA IS GREEN, THE ELEMENT OF AIR, AND ASPECT OF PURE LOVE: ON ALL ANIMALS INCLUDING HUMANS IT IS LOCATED IN THE HEART AREA.

In relation to the body, it affects the heart, immune system, cells, blood circulation, thoracic vertebra, the chest, and lower lungs.

In relation to the mind and spirit, it obviously attributes to what animals are best at teaching us: and that is ‘the spirit of pure and unconditional love’, empathy, compassion, patience, tolerance, peacefulness, and the love of being with the pack or group of animals or humans that they feel most close to. Dogs are always trying to get us and or their animal friends to be as joyful about life as they are, and to join in the fun!

When a human’s or a dog’s heart chakra is imbalanced we may notice signs such as physical heart problems, anger stemming from what is actual or perceived as being ‘lack of love’ in our lives. This can cause one to become more aloof and withdrawn. The Same behavior patterns are exhibited in dogs.

To balance this chakra, you may wish to do as we do and seek out a place of ‘green’ in nature such as a park, open space, or hiking trail. You and your dog can reconnect with nature and what really makes your heart sing! Green can really inspire the feeling of Freedom and lightness of being.

Consuming greens such as kale, green beans, and parsley and placing crystals such as rose quartz, green calcite, green jade, and emeralds on or near the heart chakra are helpful in balancing it. One of our pups likes to wear a blue or green bandana. You might try this as well for an additional boost to balance the heart and throat chakras in your dog.

THROAT CHAKRA IS BLUE AND IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PURITY OF THE AKASHA, THE ETHER: ON ALL ANIMALS, AS IT IS WITH HUMANS, IT IS LOCATED ON THE UPPER THROAT AREA.

In relation to the body, it deals with the vocal chords, throat, upper esophagus, respiratory system, lungs, nose, forelegs, and paws.

When in balance, you will notice that the level of communication and expression with which you and your dog ‘speak’ to one another is almost effortless.

When this area becomes unbalanced you may notice that any of these bodily systems mentioned above may be adversely affected; such as getting something caught in the throat, hoarseness, or the dog may become frustrated with you not ‘understanding’ how she is trying to communicate with you through her voice.

As many of you know, animals LOVE music and soft voices; so singing to them and playing soothing, non-lyrical, relaxing music is received with great gratitude by all animals. We have several recommendations for music/music channels we can share with you. Just reach out and ask us.

One of our pups personally LOVES it when we place her favourite Aqua Aura crystal on or near her throat. She also has an affinity for blue kyanite, and turquoise, and her absolute favorite fruit is organic blueberries. Interestingly enough she is also an Australian Shepherd with a Blue Merle coat coloring! We’re pretty sure blue is her favourite color.

THIRD EYE ( BROW) CHAKRA IS INDIGO AND IS ASSOCIATED WITH BOTH THE SUN AND THE MOON: IN ALL ANIMALS IT IS THE CENTER OF WISDOM AND ‘ALL-KNOWINGNESS’ AND RESIDES IN THE PINEAL GLAND BETWEEN THE EYES.

In the body it relates to the ears, nose, Left eye, base of the skull known as the occipital ridge, forehead, side of head, the nervous system, and the Left brain hemisphere; which of course is considered to be adept at tasks that involve language and reasoning.

Where mind and spirit are concerned, this chakra relates to the powers of intuition, concentration, imagination, and visualization.

We personally believe that this is one of the most heightened chakras in dogs or in any animal for that matter, because they have innate intuition, they ‘think in pictures’, and they have amazing powers of focus and concentration.

This Third Eye Chakra is the psychic center’, and if any creature is telepathic and psychic in response to their humans and the world around them it is the dog. As ‘man’s best friend’ dogs are super ‘in tune’ with us and with our vibrations, and they can ‘sense’ things way before most of us can. They are greatly affected by our thoughts, feelings, and emotions, so it is important for us to try to function at a higher vibrational level as well, and then the universe has no choice but to ‘match’ that vibration when it comes back to us. * Many of you know this as ‘ The Law of Attraction’ and others of you may know it as ‘simple physics’.

If this chakra becomes imbalanced you may notice signs such as a headache, lack of concentration, poor eyesight, and detachment, or maybe just a positive desire to go into a quiet place and reconnect through dreams.

To make sure that the Third Eye Chakra is balanced, our pups love ‘third eye kisses’; which of course stimulate the pineal gland, and they love the ethereal smell of the ‘essential oil’ of Frankincense massaged into this chakra area; especially at nap time or bedtime. Believe it or not they also enjoy hanging out with us as we meditate to music filled with isochronic tones and binaural beats, the Celtic harp, Andean Flute, Tibetan bowls, and ‘sounds of nature’ music, and they do their ‘stretches’ as we do our kundalini yoga and pilates.

Dogs are really connected to us humans on a day to day basis more than any other animal. One reason for this is because they have been with us for perhaps over 40,000 years now. Of course their great ancestor the Wolf is responsible for this, because it is they who were curious and social enough to choose to interact with humans in the first place. If it were not for the Wolf, we would not have any of our dog breeds that we have today. You have wolves to thank for this, so do your part to ensure that they are protected. * Horses and cats of course are right up there in closeness to humans, however, this article is about dogs.

CROWN CHAKRA IS VIOLET AND ASSOCIATED WITH THE ELEMENT OF COSMIC ENERGY ITSELF: ON ALL ANIMALS AS WELL AS HUMANS, IT IS LOCATED ON THE ‘CROWN’ TOP OF THE HEAD; BETWEEN THE EARS.

Although the bodily areas it is associated with are the Right brain hemisphere, cranium, cerebral cortex, right eye, and right side of the face, it is most closely associated with being more of a spiritual chakra than any other type of chakra because it is filled with the attributions of wisdom, spirituality, collective consciousness, and inspiration.

If this chakra becomes imbalanced, you may notice signs such as depression, and a lack of interest in your dog in joining in the usual fun, or in being unsocial when she is usually the ‘social butterfly’ type of personality.

One of our pups will actually take the biggest clear quartz crystal or Angel Aura crystal we have off of our bed pillow and lie on it all nite as we sleep. She also is very fond of her Amethysts and Rainbow Fluorite crystals, and we know that whenever ‘we’ start off with them on ‘Our’ pillows or in the space between us and she ends up wth them, that she is instinctually trying to rebalance her Seventh Chakra( Crown Chakra). The best way to explain this is to say that it is the higher expression in all of us.

So, we hope that this gives you a bigger picture of The 7 Main Chakras and how each one relates to the overall holistic health and well balanced needs of your dog.
